Merit Badge Counselors:

 

The term of a merit badge counselor for the Arrowhead District starts June 1 of one year through May 31 of the following year.  Your Youth Protection Training (YPT) must be valid for your complete merit badge year.  All Merit Badge Counselors must renew each year by National policy.

 

Adults NEW COUNSELORS:

  1. Complete the Scouts BSA Adult Leader application.  Use position code 42 Merit Badge Counselor.
  2. Complete all the steps in the renewal section

Current Counselors TO RENEW:

  1. Complete a BSA Merit Badge Counselor application and include any changes (adds or drops).  You can find a copy of the form online using the link in the resource links section of this pag
  2. Make sure your YPT is up to date and will not expire too early.
  3. Complete YPT and then print out a copy of your completion certificate.
  4. If you are signing up to counsel a shooting sport merit badge you will need to supply a copy of your training certificate for each of the shooting sports you have listed.
  5. Complete the ongoing background consent form, also available on the resource links.
  6. Turn the paperwork into the Dean of Merit Badges.
  7. Wait for an acknowledgement from the dean of merit badges that your application has been accepted.

Renewals Process:

  1. Please email them to the Dean of Merit Badges.
  2. Please do not turn in MBC applications/renewals directly to Council.  You will not end up in our data base if you do.
  3. Please direct all questions to me.
