BROWNSEA YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Dates: Thursday, October 17th, 2019 at 5 PM - Sunday, October 20th, 2019 at 2 PM

 Camp Oest, Broad Creek

Do you have scouts who…

  • Are promising leaders?
  • Are natural leaders but need direction?
  • Want to be better leaders?

If so, Brownsea Youth Leadership Training is for them.

Over the last 38 years, Brownsea has impacted hundreds of Scouts, preparing them to lead others by learning to lead themselves.  Brownsea is an active learning-by-doing program that expands upon the training in leadership and Scoutcraft provided by troops and paves the way for more advanced leadership courses, including National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).

At Brownsea, Scouts develop the skills and knowledge needed to plan and conduct patrol and troop activities successfully.  They camp, cook, and work together in patrols and participate in activities where they can practice hands-on learning and teamwork.  They attend presentations that help them understand Scout traditions and leadership, as well as ceremonies that develop character and citizenship.  Throughout the course, they are exposed to challenges designed to deepen and consolidate their learning.  Staff include youth who are graduates of Brownsea and adults who are experienced Brownsea trainers.

In 2019, Brownsea will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th and end at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20th.  Because Baltimore County and City Schools are closed for professional development on Friday, October 18th, this training will not interfere with school attendance.

The cost to attend Brownsea is $115.00 per Scout.  If paid before June 15, this fee is discounted to $100.00.  Full and partial scholarships are available for those Scouts who can demonstrate financial need.

There are a maximum of 64 spaces available in this course and the course is expected to fill early.  Be sure to enroll soon to reserve your place.
